Staying Chic in the 40 degree heat

Tuesday was a very sad day in my life. It was the day I returned home from my beloved annual holiday of debauchery with friends to Marbella (or 'Marbs' as it's now commonly known). For the record - WOW - what a holiday! A week of hilarious girly banter, sangria and - best of all - SUMMER CLOTHES!

Ok, so everyone is (painfully) aware that we haven't really had a British summer this year. The High Street and catwalk have taunted us with gorgeous, floaty seventies pieces and colour blocking separates but there has rarely been a chance to crack it out of the wardrobe - particularly not when it's 10 degrees and lashing down with rain outside. You can imagine my delight at the thought of a hot and sunny week of Spanish shenanigans. This meant one thing: Holiday Shopping!

Combined with a golden tan from the 40 degree heat, I decided bold and bright colour-blocking would be my holiday fashion influence. One of my favourite items was a pair of raspberry coloured culottes from Topshop. The safe option would be to team them with a black or cream vest, however for true holiday style I paired them with an electric blue scalloped edge camisole vest from Topshop:

Another favourite outfit was my coral one-shouldered dress from Warehouse. Combined with an orange Angel Jackson belt it was a real summery statement look:

Colour pop lips were the favoured choice of all the girls and I, with shades varying from hot pink ('Chatter' by Mac) to coral ('Coralicious' by Max Factor) and orange:

Ah well. I had better get back to my post-holiday blues. Now to pack it all away in the back of my wardrobe...Bad times.
